Road Racing: New Diamond Races scheduled for October 2021

By Short Shift News
A new road race in the south of the Isle of Wight has been scheduled for October 2021.
The Diamond Road Races is set to take place at the end of October, straight after the BSB season finale typically held at Brands Hatch.
The all-new 12.8-mile long course passes through a number of villages on the southern coast, running from Atherfield through Chale, Kingston and Shorewell.
The Diamond Road Race circuit mirrors the iconic Isle of Man TT, North West 200 and even parts of Scarborough’s Oliver’s Mount, all in one unique course. Speeds are estimated to reach 210mph at some points on the course.
The event is being ran by Paul Sandford, an Isle of Wight resident who has lived on the Island for many years. Sandford is joined by an experienced team, with wealths of knowledge. Alongside Sandford, is James Kaye, the Co-Founder and Race Originator. The former British Touring Car Champion has been working with Sandford to make his dream a reality.
Kaye isn’t the only former BTCC champion onboard, Matt Neal, the events advisor has claimed three BTCC titles along with six BTCC independent championships.
Every event needs a Clerk of a course, and there’s no better man than Gary Thompson, MBE. Thompson has years of experience, running the Isle of Man TT, Classic TT and Manx GP.
Finally, the event has two rider and team recruitment managers. Former Honda BSB owner Neil Tuxworth and Former British Champion, Isle of Man TT winner, and multiple North West 200 and Macau Grand Prix winner, Steve Plater who will also act as safety advisor.
There is no scheduled date for the upcoming event, however, it is known that it will run late October 2021.
