Tech 3 Racing’s Iker Lecuona will return to MotoGP action this weekend after the Spaniard was forced to skip the EuropeanGP due to local COVID-19 restrictions.
Ahead of the first of two visits to Valencia, Iker Lecuona’s brother had tested positive for the COVID-19 virus which forced the Tech 3 KTM rider out of action. However, after a strong performance from Miguel Oliveira, Tech 3’s already high spirits have been lifted further following the announcement that Lecuona can return to his RC16 this weekend.
It will be a tough weekend for Lecuona, with most teams having data from Sundays 27-lap Grand Prix; however, we have seen in the past that Lecuona is a quick learner.
Speaking ahead of his second PCR test (undergone on Tuesday) he said:
Iker Lecuona – Red Bull KTM Tech 3
“I was really happy to get to know it will be possible for me to travel to Valencia this week, even it will just be on Saturday, it means I can ride my bike and start the race, so this is great news. I need to do another PCR test on Tuesday and if this is negative again, I can come to take part at my home Grand Prix, therefore, I’m obviously very excited.”
