By Dawn Hammersley
Eli Banish Will Make His First Appearance On British Soil At Brands Hatch.
Eli Banish is a young American racer from Kentucky, he currently rides in the WERA Motorcycle Road Racing Series. Eli has claimed numerous victories so far during his 2021 season, he is no stranger to putting his racing machinery on Pole Position and to setting the fastest lap times during his races.
Eli has been racing since he was just five-years-old, he has been racing Flat Track for just over four years, he loves to get in the mix road racing. when he isn’t racing motorcycles Eli likes to participate in cycle races. Eli’s dad Tim Banish is there for his son no matter what the event is, he has made the journey to England with his son.
Eli was originally meant to come over to England in August to be a guest rider for Richard Mortimer’s Racing Team Mortimer Racing – Victoria House Academy and take part in the Honda British Talent Cup round at The British MotoGP round at Silverstone, but an opportunity has arisen for Eli to join the ThorneyCroft56 Racing Team, Eli will be riding in the Honda British Talent Cup for two rounds with the Derbyshire based team. The rounds are Brands Hatch round three and Thruxton round four.
Unfortunately two of ThorneyCroft56 rider’s Harrison Dessoy and JJ Cunningham are out of racing action at the moment due to injuries, therefore giving Eli the opportunity to come to England for two wild card rides, which will give the young American rider a taster for when he returns in August to ride at Silverstone for The Mortimer Racing – Victoria House academy Team.
Eli’s usual racing number is 33 but whilst racing in England the late Nicky Hayden’s family have agreed to let Eli run the famous number 69, what an honor for the young rider!
We wish both Harrison Dessoy and JJ Cunningham a speedy recovery and hope to see them both back in racing action soon. I’m sure Eli will have an astounding time racing in the Honda British Talent Cup and we wish him all the best for Brands Hatch, Thruxton and Silverstone.
