British Superbikes returned from its Spanish getaway as round two of the season began at Oulton Park.

After a thrilling qualifying session earlier this afternoon it was Kyle Ryde who lined up on pole position for the opening UK race of the season.

Behind the OMG Grilla Yamaha Racing rider in second and third on the grid was Hager PBM Ducati rider, Glenn Irwin, and fellow OMG Grilla Yamaha Racing rider and Championship leader, Ryan Vickers.

Glenn Irwin opened his account in 2024 as he takes his first race win of the season after a late arrival to the grid for the season.

Christian Iddon made it a Ducati 1-2 at Oulton Park as he took his MotoRapido Ducati to second place after challenging Irwin early on.

Ryde struggled at the start of the race but turned his fortunes around and took his OMG Grilla Yamaha to a podium finish after a late charge towards the front.

Tommy Bridewell has done a good job of proving the doubters wrong so far this season as the reigning Champion finished fourth today on his Honda.

Vickers did the opposite of his team-mate as he started off well but dropped back in the latter stages. The Championship leader finished fifth in the opening race of the weekend. Just behind Vickers was fellow Yamaha rider Danny Kent, who threw everything at Vickers on the last lap but had to settle for sixth.

The top BMW today was the returning Rory Skinner. After a year away in Moto2 the young Scottish rider is back at the sharp end in BSB on his M1000RR.

The top Kawasaki rider was Jason O’Halloran who finished in eighth place after qualifying in fourth place, but dropping back throughout the race.

The BSB veterans of Josh Brookes and Leon Haslam could not stick with the young guns at the front. Both the FHO and ROKiT BMW riders finished down in ninth and tenth place.
