BSB: McAMS Racing Prepped for Battle of Scotland.
By Dawn Hammersley
McAMS Racing and Danny Kent are eagerly awaiting a return to track action as the weekend approaches, with the Bennetts British Superbike Championship heading to Knockhill for Round 4 of the season.
Kent and the team head towards the weekend as runners-up in the championship standings, a mere 13 points behind the top spot.
Having secured three podiums already this year and proved to be the most consistent Yamaha rider on the grid, Kent is feeling optimistic for another positive weekend to add to an already impressive 2024 campaign.
Scotland’s scenic 1.2-mile circuit produces some of the closest lap times of the season, meaning that even the smallest of mistakes can have big consequences.
In preparation for the fourth race weekend of the year, the team made a one-day outing to the Northern venue, to dial the Yamaha R1 into the nature of the track.
During the flying visit, Kent completed a total of 44 laps throughout their half-day on track, making some positive steps forward in circuit familiarisation.
Some additional set-up adjustments were also made to the R1, in the hopes of creating a better-suited package for the unique circuit and hitting the ground running come Free Practice 1 on Friday afternoon.
Heading towards the weekend, the McAMS Racing squad are coming off a podium-finishing weekend at Donington Park. In the last round of the season, they demonstrated a competitive pace and appeared consistently towards the front of the field.
With the three-day weekend approaching, Kent and the team are feeling both positive and hopeful for another strong meeting and are ready to give it their all yet again, in the hopes of maintaining a commanding position within the championship.
This weekend will see the championship revert to the original qualifying format after a second Superpole-style session at Donington Park.
A total of three races will follow throughout Saturday and Sunday, providing a trio of opportunities to secure a host of important points for the standings.
Danny Kent:
“I’m looking forward to getting up to Knockhill this weekend. It was really productive to have done half a day at the test a couple of weeks ago. I feel confident that we’ll be going into FP1 on Friday with a bike that will be competitive. We’ll have to wait and see what the weather is going to bring, at the moment it’s looking pretty wet. Either way I’m feeling more than ready to get stuck into another race weekend and can’t wait to get started.”
Tim Martin – Team Owner:
“After a bit of testing there a couple of weeks ago, I feel confident that we’re starting from a good place in Free Practice 1 on Friday. I believe we’re starting from a good place and both the team and Danny can’t wait to build on the progress we’ve already made. We’re also heading into the weekend as runners up in the standings, although there’s still a long way to go, that’s a really nice feeling. We’re hosting a few guests yet again over the course of the weekend. Hopefully the nice weather turns up. But either way, we’re feeling ready to give it our all.”
