BSB: Kyle Ryde Takes Maiden Victory at Cadwell Park in Race One

OMG Racing’s Kyle Ryde wins his first ever race at Cadwell Park as old team-mates Tommy Bridewell and Glenn Irwin battle it out behind the podium finishers
It’s round eight of the Bennetts British Superbikes Championship at the Louth circuit of Cadwell Park. Ryan Vickers and Tommy Bridewell both crashed out during qualifying putting them down the order for their grid positions. Andrew Irwin had a big off during FP3, the Honda rider sat out of qualifying and was declared unfit to compete in race one. Kawasaki’s Jason O’Halloran took his first pole position of the 2024 season, OMG Racing’s Kyle Ryde qualified in second place, with Charlie Nesbitt rounding out the front row of the grid.
Kyle Ryde lead the BSB field into Coppice, Jason snatched the lead a corner later. Tommy Bridewell had a good start to the race and was in eighth place, Ryan Vickers was up to 12th place.
Ryde retook the lead from the O’Show, Charlie Nesbitt was holding on to third place. Vickers had to pull off the circuit on lap two, the OMG Racing rider’s race was over.
Lee Jackson and Ducati’s Glenn Irwin were closing on Nesbitt after three laps. Christian Iddon looked to be struggling down in14th place.
Kyle and Jason were controlling the race after six laps, O’Halloran was the fastest man on track. Tommy was in sixth place and looking sharp as Lee Jackson took third place from his team-mate. Josh Brookes was climbing up the order as the Australian passed Leon Haslam for seventh place.
Staffordshire’s Storm Stacey was inside the top ten in ninth place, in a four-way freight train in the hunt for seventh position.
At the half-way stage of the race Jackson was the fastest man on circuit, closely followed by Bridewell who was on the back wheel of his old team-mate Glenn.
Jackson made a move for second place, Jason fought straight back, Lee composed himself and repeated the move a few corners later and made it stick, the Honda rider was now in second place. Ryde was extending his lead at the front and looked comfortable.
Glenn and Tommy were having a right battle for fourth place, Glenn made a harsh move at the Chicane to hang on to fifth place. Nesbitt made a move on Jason for the final podium spot, it was MasterMac Honda two-three.
Tom Ward was having a strong ride in 15th place, Tom is standing in for the injured Franco Bourne. Glenn was closing in on the Kawasaki of O’Halloran. Bridewell was looking to repay Irwin for his move earlier, he slipped underneath the Ducati of Irwin to take fifth place. Tommy passed Jason on the final lap for fourth place as did Glenn, Jason was pushed back to sixth place.
Ryde crossed the finish line to take the victory, Jackson was second, Nesbitt was third, Bridewell was fourth with Irwin taking fifth position.
