BSB: McAMS Racing Enjoy Fruitful Test at Circuito de Navarra.

By Dawn Hammersley
The Yamaha R1-powered outfit hit the track for the first time since the end of 2024, completing a busy testing plan with positive sensations and making a strong start to 2025.
The 2025 season got off to a strong start for McAMS Racing in the first official test of the year at the Circuito de Navarra in Spain, with Danny Kent second fastest on the combined timesheets after two days on track.
On Saturday, one day prior to the official test on 6-7 April, the team got stuck into a productive Shakedown Test to dust off the cobwebs after a long off-season away from the track.
The opening day of two during the official outing saw Kent finish P2 overall, missing out on the top spot by just 0.017s with a fastest lap time of 1:45.341.
Kent continued along the same trajectory throughout today’s track action, improving on yesterday’s time to punch in a best lap of 1:44.790 and finish P2 overall.
Throughout the last two days, the team tested various components including new front wings and various swing arm, pivot system and brake pad set-ups, as well as an all-new tyre compound for the 2025 season.
The team capitalised on the use of two Yamaha R1s at their disposal, appearing on-track in back-to-back fashion to squeeze the most out of their time on track.
As the McAMS-backed outfit returned to the track for the first time this year, multiple new faces appeared under the stable, including that of 11-time British Champion, Roger Marshall, stepping in as Kent’s Rider Coach for 2025.
With a positive period of testing under their belt, the team look forward to returning to UK soil at Donington Park for a further opportunity to fine-tune the Yamaha R1 package.

BSB R&G Official Test: P2, 1:44.790
“I’m really pleased with how we progressed throughout the first official test of the year. Navarra is a great track, and it was nice to get back to work with the team after what felt like a long winter break. The team and I completed a strong testing plan and left no stone unturned in what we wanted to experiment with. We leave Spain feeling satisfied with the steps made. I’m excited to get back to work at Donington Park in just over one week, where we’ll aim to continue along the same trajectory.”

“It felt great to be back on track after a long winter break. Danny and the team enjoyed a positive few days and we’re happy with our improvement as we come away from Spain. The R1 looked great on track, and Danny felt very comfortable back on two wheels after months out of the saddle. The team worked great with the addition of a couple of new members, we tested everything we needed to and feel happy with the work completed. All-in-all, we’re really pleased with the test and were even lucky enough to get some lovely weather. We’ll carry this momentum into the next test at Donington Park. Can’t wait to get back!”
