4.5 seconds covered the top four in the opening race at Oulton Park for round 10 of the championship, it was Australia’s Jason O’Halloran who took his first victory of the year.

Honda Racing’s Glenn Irwin got the hole shot into turn one, and he continued to lead the first lap. Buildbase Suzuki rider Kyle Ryde crashed out at Shell oils on the first lap, whilst going round the outside of VisiontTrack Ducati’s Josh Brookes. Bike Devil Kawasaki’s Tom Ward crashed out at Lodge after going wide and tucking the front.

O’Halloran took the lead at lodge in the second lap from Glenn Irwin. VisionTrack Ducati’s Christian Iddon moved up to second on lap three passing Glenn at the Hislop Chicane, then two laps later taking the lead from O’Halloran at lodge.

Half way through the race it was a 12 bike train from first to twelfth position. Jack Kennedy’s debut on the Raf Regular & reserve Kawasaki was cut short on lap nine as he went into the pits and retired from the race. Rich Energy OMG Racing BMW’s Luke Mossey was in a strong ninth place, but ran on at Hislops on lap 10 causing him to drop to 12th position.

O’Halloran took the lead at Shell Oils on lap 14 from Iddon and went on to win the race by 0.358 seconds infront of Iddon. Rapid Fulfillments FS 3 Kawasaki’s Danny Buchan finished third 0.8 seconds off the win, being his first podium of the season so far. Buildbase Suzuki’s Keith Farmer on his return managed a points finish in 15th. Both Irwin brothers were fighting for fourth posotion with Andrew finishing ahead of Glenn.

O’Halloran set the fastest lap on the last lap so he will be on pole for tomorrows first race, joining him on the front row is Iddon and Buchan, who also set their fastest laps on the last lap. Glenn Irwin’s lead has decreased from 35 points to 30 after Jason’s victory, moving him from fith to second in the standings.

Can McAms O’Hallaron do the double tomorrow? or will there be another new winner at the Cheshire Circuit?
