Lucas Mahias takes his first victory of the season and first non-Yamaha victory of the season in a flooded Magny-Cours, taking the holeshot and leading the whole way and taking his first victory since Qatar last year.

It was a bizarre start for Andrea Locatelli as the 2020 champion crashed out at the Imola Chicane on the warm-up lap and retired into the pits, not seeing out the weekend how he wanted to.

Britain’s Kyle Smith managed to redeem himself after yesterdays mistakes and overcame rear grip problems to bring home a second place finish, which equals the teams best finish this year from Jules Cluzel.

It was a titanic battle for third position, with a 10 rider battle for last podium spot in the early part of the race. It eventually came down to Can Oncu and Hannes Soomer, but a mistake from Can Oncu at turn 15 on lap 15, which meant that the Turkish rider missed out on his first podium of the season with remounting and able to finish a very respectable seventh.

Hannes Soomer took advantage of Oncu’s crash after setting constant fastest laps and managing to take a second consecutive third place finish of the weekend, being the Estonians strongest weekend of his World Supersport 600 career.

Steven Odendaal was also in the fight for third place but had a massive moment out of turn 8 which dented his confidence, but he was also able to take his career best finish in fourth position. A result the former Moto 2 rider will be very happy with and will want to continue the form into Estoril.

Former Moto 3 rider, Czech Republic’s Karel Hanika ended his debut World Supersport weekend with a very respectable fifth place finish after his dnf from race one.

The MV Agusta’s had a race to forget as both Raffaele De Rosa and Federico Fuligni, De Rosa was in the battle for third place but a mistake at turn two on lap 13 ended his hopes for another podium finish this season. And Fuligni crashed one lap later at the Nurburgring Chicane, ending the MV Agustas weekend in taters.

Rookie 2019 Supersport 300 champion Manuel Gonzalez managed to go one better from yesterday, managing a sixth position, equalling his best finish of the season having a battle with Britain’s Danny Webb on the last coming out on top.

Kevin Manfredi was in the top five for most of the race until the final sector of the race where he made a mistake and dropped to 10th position, frustrating for the Italian as he was on for another fifth position.
