Former Moto3 World Champion Danny Kent Joins Moto2 Podium Finisher Gino Rea For The 2021 Bennetts British Superbike Championship Riding The Suzuki GSX-R1000R.

Gino Rea remains with the Buildbase Suzuki Team for another season, joining them last season from round four as a replacement rider for the injured Keith Farmer. The 31-year-old made an impressive impact on the Buildbase Team and remained with the team for the rest of the 2020 season; Gino had a best place finish of fourth at Donington Park. Gino has ridden in several different championships over the years and is now feeling confident for his 2021 season campaign.

I’m really excited to be staying with Buildbase Suzuki for 2021. Hawk racing is one of the oldest and most experienced teams in BSB and I’ve had a lot of respect for everyone involved since stepping into the championship, so I’m very thankful to Steve and Stuart for the opportunity to race for them again.

Danny Kent is moving up to the Superbike Class for 2021 having competed in the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Championship where he won the last race of the season at Brands Hatch in 2020. The former Moto3 Champion has a broad repertoire of experience as he has been racing motorbikes since 2001. The 27-year-old first appeared in the British Superbike paddock back in 2018, he rode the Movuno Suzuki for the final round of the season. Danny is really motivated and happy to be joining the Buildbase Suzuki Team and is relishing riding a superbike again.

Moving to a superbike, I think my GP experience could mean I’ll manage quite well as I’m used to a stiffer chassis setup, but I also know i have a lot of learning to do; getting used to just the speed of the bikes, and some UK tracks I’ve not been to. I’m setting expectations high: I’d like to be in the Showdown at the end of the year and I’m excited to get started.

Buildbase Suzuki Team Manager Steve Hicken believes they have one of the most talented rider line-ups on the grid for the 2021 season. As a World Champion Danny’s ability is beyond question and he is sure to adapt to the Superbike. Gino and the team hope that he will pick up from where he left off last season; having been strong towards the latter part of the season finishing in the top ten for the last six rounds.
