Peter Hickman a Long-Time Smiths Racing Team Rider is Motivated To return To The Top Step Of the podium With His All-New FHO Racing BMW Team.
Lincolnshire rider Peter Hickman has ridden for The Smiths Racing Team for the last four seasons. 2021 sees an all-new team for Peter, formed from the foundations of the successful Smiths Racing operation. FHO Racing will be utilising many of the Smiths Racing Team’s experienced technicians and equipment. New team owner Fay ho has many years experience with motorcycle racing and is very excited to be running her own team in the BSB paddock. Fay Ho is an international businesswoman who currently divides her time between business and charity work in Macau, Hong Kong and the UK, and has a confessed love of racing.
The 34-year-old rider first appeared in the British Superbike Class back in 2006. He took his first win at Cadwell Park in 2014, he started the season without a ride but was later signed by the RAF Reserves Honda Team. In 2017 he signed for The Smiths Racing Team which was Hickman’s best season-to-date finishing the season in fourth place.
A young Peter entered his first-ever Mini Moto race at Stubby Airfield in 2000 aged 13, In 2002 he entered The Aprilia RS125 Superteen Challenge achieving numerous wins, podiums and lap records. In 2004 he rode in the British Superstock Cup Championship with Hawk Kawasaki on the ZX10R, finishing the season as the champion.
Peter achieved his first international road race win at the 2015 Ulster Grand Prix, he then went on to win the last race of the 2015 Macau Grand Prix. He currently holds the record as the fastest ever newcomer to the Isle Of Man TT, with a fastest average lap speed of 129.104 mph. He prepared for his TT debut by travelling to the Island and driving 70 laps of the 38-mile course, which stood him in good stead as he went on to take his first TT win in 2018 in the National Superstock Class. Hickman has since racked up a total of five wins and 10 podiums at the famous Isle Of Man course. Due to the Covid Pandemic, the last two years of the TT have been cancelled, I’m sure Peter is already looking ahead to the 2022 Isle Of Man TT where he will be pursuing the title of King Of The Mountain.
