Essex rider 27-year-old rider Danny Buchan is starting his 2021 Bennetts British Superbike Season riding the all-new M 1000 RR BMW and has switched to The SYNETIQ BMW Motorrad Team for his championship title charge. It’s a big change for him as he has been riding Kawasaki machinery for the past three seasons, he is relishing joining a new team and crew and can’t wait to get testing in April.

Obviously I’m looking forward to joining the SYNETIQ BMW team for the 2021 season. It’s a big change for me, but one I’m excited about, working with a new team and crew on the all-new BMW M 1000 RR. Let’s get to work and get it up at the front!

Danny began racing motorcycles at the young age of six, he began racing in 1999 and after having a lot of success racing motorcross, where he won numerous races and championships, he made the switch to circuit racing in 2007 and 2008 riding in the Aprilia Superteens Class. During the 2008 season Danny made the step-up to a Formula 400 Kawasaki ZXR, he continued into 2009 and became the Champion of the series.

In 2011 Danny was picked up by the MSS Performance Kawasaki 1000 Team, riding in the BSB National Superstock 1000 championship; where he finished the season in third place. 2012 saw Danny progress into the British Superbike Class with the MSS Kawasaki team, he was promoted half way through the season whilst still competing in the National Superstock class, his best race finish was fourth.

After a few challenges over the next few seasons Danny went back to the National Superstock 1000 Championship with Morello Kawasaki in 2014, Danny had an amazing season winning the championship title for himself and his team. After a superb 2014 he made the step back up to the Superbike Class in 2015 riding for BeWiser Kawasaki, he made his first step onto the Superbike podium in a couple of races and finished the season in 12th place. In 2016 he switched from a Kawasaki to a Ducati riding for the Moto Rapido Ducati Team, after six difficult races Danny left the team and competed in the Euro Superstock Championship as a wildcard rider in various rounds.

He made the decision to return to the National Superstock 1000 Championship in 2017 to try and regain his Championship Title once again, after an arduous season winning 10 races throughout the season, he lifted the Championship Crown once again.

It was back to the Superbike Class for Danny in 2018 where he rode for the Kawasaki FS-3 Team, he remained with the team for three seasons, 2019 was his best season with the team with two race wins and five podiums to his credit, finishing the season in fifth place. Overall he had two victories and a further nine podiums during his three seasons with the Kawasaki FS-3 Team.

We look forward to seeing what Danny can achieve in his first season riding the all-new M 1000 RR with the SYNETIQ BMW Team for his 2021 Bennetts British Superbike campaign.
