BSB: Testing And The Opening Round Of Bennetts British Superbikes To Be Delayed.

By Dawn Hammersley
Bennetts British Superbike Organisers Have Made The Decision To Delay the Opening Round To June 25th.
Both testing and round one of the Bennetts British Superbike championship have yet again been moved back. Round one was scheduled to begin at Oulton Park on 29th May but now has been moved to 25th June. The first testing of the season was due to take place on the 13th April at Donington Park National Circuit, it has now been moved to Silverstone on the 28th and 29th April, this testing will be closed to the general public as will the second testing date of 4-6th May at Snetterton. A limited number of fans will be allowed to attend the testing day at Oulton Park on the 19th May and at Donington Park National on June 8th.
Round two was originally going to be held at Thruxton on June 4-6th, the circuit date has now been moved to Round four on July 30th-August 1st. Snetterton Round three was going to be held on June 18-20th, it has now been moved to Round seven on September 3-5th. Round five has been moved from August 6-8th at Donington Park National to August 13-15th. Round nine at Oulton Park has been moved from September 17-19th to September 24-26th. There will be three weekends of back-to-back rounds during the season to keep all the Bennetts British Superbike fans entertained, it will please the majority of the riders too as they like to race week after week, especially if the previous round was a good one for them and the team.
The decision for the delays:
Stuart Higgs – Bennetts British Superbike Championship Series Director
“Since the government’s roadmap was published in late February, we have been in constant contact with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) to understand its implications for spectator attendances. Unfortunately, the DCMS is still not in a position to confirm what capacities will apply prior to 21 June.
“With the start of the season rapidly approaching, and to offer the best possible chance of having all our fans back trackside, we have made decisive changes to the calendar to deliver the best opportunity for this to happen as we look ahead positively to our 25th Anniversary year.”
