Tarran Mackenzie Takes His Maiden Superpicks Pole Position Of The 2021 Bennetts British Superbike Season.
The Q1 session was under damp conditions, with 15 riders charging for the top six places with a chance of qualifying in the Q2 session. Honda’s rookie rider Ryo Mizuno has been declared unfit for the rest of the weekend due to a crash that he had during the Free Practice one session yesterday at Sheene Curve.
Various riders took a turn to be in first place throughout the Q1 session, but it was Suzuki’s Danny Kent who took the top spot followed by Honda’s Dan Linfoot, Kawasaki’s Ryan Vickers, Ducat’s Josh Brookes, Joe Francis and FS-3 Racing’s Rory Skinner took the sixth and final qualifying place to go through to Q2.

Q2 got under-way with 18 riders all aiming to put their machinery on the front row of the grid. McAMS Yamaha’s Jason O’Halloran had an off just four minutes into the session. Fs-3 Racing’s Rory Skinner was leading the way early on in the session until Mackenzie snatched first place, the young Scottish rider bit back and re-took the first place, Mackenzie showed his authority and went back into first place.
Tarran Mackenzie managed to hold on to the first place position and claim his first Pole position of the 2021 season, Oxford Product’s Tommy Bridewell finished in second place, with Rory Skinner in third place. RICH Energy OMG Racing BMW’s Brad Ray finished in fourth, Danny Buchan finished in fifth. FS-3 Racing’s Lee Jackson rounded off the top ten in tenth place.
Josh Brookes finished in 12th place, Jason O’Halloran got back out on track after his off but couldn’t put a fast lap in and has qualified down in 18th place, not where we are used to seeing the second place man in the championship standings! Jason will have his work cut out for Race One this afternoon but anything is possible in the Bennetts British Superbike races. Race One is at 16.15, can Tarran Mackenzie convert his first Pole Position of the season into his first win of the season?
