BSB: Lee Jackson Tops The Combined Time Sheets At A Damp Thruxton.

By Dawn Hammersley
Lee Jackson Ends Day One At The Top Of The Combined Time Standings At Thruxton, After Two Damp Sessions.
The weather conditions didn’t get any better for the Superbike’s Free Practice two session. The sky was cloudy with the immanent threat of rain!
The second session of the day started steadily as only a few riders braved the first few minutes of the session, whilst the rest watched on from the pits. Josh Brookes was out on track, the Australian would be hoping to take advantage of the damp conditions and get into the top 12 for tomorrows Q2 session, enabling him to get a much better grid position than what he has been having so far this season.
McAMS Yamaha’s Tarran Mackenzie was having a quiet day, he was in 14th place, whilst team-mate Jason O’Halloran was in third place. At the half-way stage of the session no one looked likely to replace FS-3 Racing Kawasaki’s Lee Jackson at the top of the time sheets.
At the chequered flag all the positions remained the same as the Free Practice One session as the conditions were too sketchy for all the riders. Lee Jackson took advantage of the track conditions before the rain came down in session one and was able to set a lap time of 1:7.213 putting the Lincolnshire rider in first place.
McAMS Yamaha’s Tarran Mackenzie will have to go through Q1 tomorrow as will the reigning champion Josh Brookes. RICH Energy OMG Racing BMW’s Kyle Ryde and Brad Ray both have made it into Q2, Andrew Irwin joins his team-mate Danny Buchan in Q2. Danny Kent made it through to Q2 but his team-mate Gino Rea will have to go through to Q1. TAG Honda’s Danlinfoot has just made it into Q2 as he finished in 12th place.
