Toprak Razgatlioglu Wins The First Ever World Superbike Race At Autodrom Most In The Czech Republic.

As the World Superbike riders lined-up on the grid for Race One the sun was shining, the temperature was actually the highest it had been all weekend. Jonathan Rea was on Pole Position for the sixth time of the 2021 season.

When the lights went out it was Toprak who led the group into Turn One, Tom Sykes ran on at Turn One, he managed to get back on track into fifth place. Rinaldi had a flying start from eighth to fourth on the first lap. The top three Toprak, Rea and Scott Redding started to pull away from the rest of the pack.

Redding took the lead on the start finish straight on lap three, he then managed to pull a slight gap from Rea who was in second place. Kawasaki’s Alex Lowes lost the front end on lap five, followed by Ducati’s Chaz Davies who also lost the front end, they both managed to re-mount and continue in the race.

Rea was pushing hard to catch Redding, having front end moments, which enabled Toprak to take second place from Rea. Meanwhile this was helping the British rider Scott to pull even a bigger gap at the front. Tito Rabat’s seasons woes continued as he crashed out on lap 10. Andrea Locatelli was having a strong race getting into fourth place by lap 11.

By lap 13 both Toprak and Rea were catching Redding, the gap was down from 1.7s to 0.9s. On lap 14 Rea crashed at Turn One! The pressure had obviously got to the reigning World Champion, he re-joined the race in 11th position. Lower down the field Michael Van der Mark crashed and was out of the race.

Toprak put the fastest lap time in on lap 15, he closed the gap to Redding to 0.5s. Toprak was using his breaking technic to his advantage. Garrett Gerloff was doing what he needed to do, he was in sixth position staying out of trouble in a valuble points scoring position.

Rea crashed again on lap 18 at Turn 20, he was now out of the race! Toprak swept past Scott taking the lead but Scott wasn’t giving up on the 25 points and fought back and made the move stick to re-take first position. Scott needs maximum points if he stands any chance of winning the 2021 Championship.

Toprak made a last minute move on Redding and made it stick to take the win, the run to the line was so close, Redding was furious as he past the line in second place, Locatelli held onto third place. The championship is now wide-open, we have three championship contenders for the 2021 World Superbike Championship Title. It’s all to play for in tomorrow’s Sprint Race.

The Sprint Race is tomorrow at 11:00 (GMT+2)
