
BSB: Josh Brookes Tops The Time Sheet At The End Of Day One At Oulton Park.

Reigning 2020 Champion Josh Brookes Leads The Way After Free Practice Two.
SYNETIQ BMW’s Danny Buchan took charge of proceedings in Free Practice One, the Essex rider stormed to the top of the timing sheet with minutes to go.
The last Free Practice of the session of the day was under cloudy conditions at the Cheshire circuit of Oulton Park, for Round Nine of the Championship.
Shortly after the Free Practice Session got under-way it was Red Flagged due to RAF Regular & Reserve Kawasaki’s Ryan Vickers crashing at Knickerbrook. The session was re-started with FHO Racings BMW’s Peter Hickman leading the way, McAMS Yamaha’s Jason O’Halloran in second and BMW’s Danny Buchan in third.
Fifteen minutes into the session Jason O’Halloran went into first place, Ducati’s Josh Brookes was in second place. Tarran Mackenzie and Christian Iddon were making better progress in this session in seventh and eighth place respectively.
All eight of the Showdown contenders were in the top ten, Ducati’s Tommy Bridewell was on the move taking second place from fellow Ducati man Brookes, two laps later Bridewell snatched first place from O’Halloran. Iddon made his way up-to fifth place with just four minutes remaining in the session.
With just under two minutes to go Brookes topped the time sheet with just 0.270s between himself and Bridewell. At the checkered flag Reigning British Superbike Champion Josh Brookes finished first, Peter Hickman was second, Bridewell finished in third place, O’Halloran was fourth, Iddon was fifth. Tarran Mackenzie just made the Q2 cut off line finishing in 12th place. All the Showdown contenders have made it through to Q2.


The Q2 qualifying session is sure to be a tense one, high grid positions are sure to play a vital part in Race One tomorrow. Race One is tomorrow at 16:30.
