WSBK: Toprak Razgatlioglu Ends The Portimao Test In First Place After Setting A Record Breaking Lap Time.

Toprak Razgatlioglu Topped The Time Sheet At Portimao For The Final Day Of Testing In Portugal.
A two-day test has taken place for the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship at Portimao. Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK rider’s Johnathan Rea and Alex Lowes took part as did the current World Superbike champion Toprak Razgatlioglu and his team-mate Andrea Locatelli. Alvaro Bautista and Michael Ruben Rinaldi were also on track testing their Ducati Panigale V4 R, Alvaro was acquainting himself back to the Ducati machinery after having two seasons riding for Honda.
Team GoEleven had their new rider Philipp Oettl fielding the Panigale V4 R. Gil Motor Sport Yamaha’s rider Christophe Ponsson and Barni Spark Racing Team’s Luca Bernard also took part in the two-day test.
At the end of day one its was Kawasaki’s Johnathan Rea who topped the time sheet with team-mate Alex Lowes in sixth place. At the end of today’s testing action Rea was knocked off the top spot by his 2021 season main rival Toprak Razgatlioglu, Rea was just 0.235s off Topracks best lap time. Lowes finished the day’s testing in fourth place.
Toprak only managed a second place finish at the end of day one, whilst team-mate Locatelli finished in fifth place. The final day of testing saw Toprak stamp his authority on proceedings and finished the day in first place, with a lap time of 1’39.616s, which was a lap record. Locatelli finished in fifth place.
Alvaro Bautista seemed to be getting to grips with his Ducati V4 R, the Spaniard finished in third place both days. Michael Rubin Rinaldi finished in fourth place on day one and in seventh place today. Alvaro tried a new swingarm on his Ducati V4 R as well as trying Pirelli’s SCQ tyre, which is to be used throughout the 2022 season.
Team GoEleven’s new rider Phillip Oettl finished seventh on day one and made a step-up the timing sheet today finishing in sixth place.
Gil Motorsport-Yamaha’s Christophe Ponsson finished both his two days testing in eighth place.
Barni Spark Racing Team’s Luca Bernardi finished both of his two days testing in ninth place, with a faster lap time today of 1’42.961s.
