Moto3: Deniz Oncu Wins his First Moto3 Race at the Sachsenring.

Denis Oncu takes his first ever Moto3 victory after a making a perfect block pass on Ayumu Sasaki.
It was perfect weather conditions for the Moto3 race in Germany. Ayumu Sasaki was on pole position, after setting a blistering lap time, Deniz Oncu lined up in second place on the grid with Ivan Ortola rounding out the front row of the grid.
Lights out and Colin Veijer lead the field of Moto3 riders into turn one, it wasn’t long before his team-mate Sasaki took control of the race. Deniz Oncu was in second place, with Ortola in third place, Colin was pushed back to sixth place.
Colin Veijer crashed out at turn 12 after such a solid start to the race. With 21 laps remaining to the race there was a four way battle for first place, Sasaki was comfortably leading the race from Daniel Holgado, Oncu and Ortola.
Britain’s Scott Ogden was in 21st place, just in front of his team-mate Josh Whatley. Sasaki’s pace was phenomenal as he pulled a 1.1 second gap from Holgado.
Behind the leading group, there was a seven way battle for fifth position from Yamanaka to Artigas. Oncu was closing down the gap to Sasaki with 14 laps to go. Oncu had over a two second to third placed man Holgado.
Oncu was looked to be having an issue with his left leg, he looked to be hitting his leg at every opportunity as it looked like he needed to help the circulation, it wasn’t affecting his race pace, he was chasing Sasaki for the lead.
Oncu was lining his move up for first place with just two laps to go, in previous races Deniz has made his moves too early, the Turkish rider was biding his time. He made his move at the final corner to take his first ever Moto3 victory, quality race craft from the young rider, Sasaki had to settle for second place after leading for the whole race, Holgado was third.
