By Dawn Hammersley
Tommy Bridewell stole the show at Snetterton winning all-three races.
BeerMonster Ducati’s Tommy Bridewell won all-three Bennetts British Superbike races at the Norwich circuit of Snetterton for round five of the championship. Bridewell had never previously taken a victory at Snetterton before and all throughout his BSB career he has never won a race at a circuit that didn’t have a Park in the circuit title.
Race One saw Tommy battling it out with FHO Racing’s Josh Brookes and McAMS Yamaha’s Jason O’Halloran and his BeerMonster Ducati team-mate Glenn Irwin. Bridewell made the perfect pass on Glenn at Brundle on the final lap, which then caused Glenn to lose momentum and just missing out on a podium finish.
Race Two began with Josh Brookes leading the way from Glenn and Bridewell. O’Halloran joined in the mix after four laps and took charge of the race. The race was Red Flagged due to Danny Buchan and Peter Hickman crashing out at Hamilton. The race was restarted and Brookes took control at the front until Bridewell made his move for the lead at Agostini, Tommy managed to edge away from the rest of the field. Tommy crossed the line to take his second victory of the weekend, Brookes held off BMW’s Leon Haslam to take second place, Haslam returned to the podium in third place, Glenn was fourth with O’Halloran finishing in fifth place.
Race Three saw home town rider Ryan Vickers launch off the line to get the holeshot and lead into turn one, Vickers had Bridewell Brookes Haslam and Danny Kent for company on the first lap. Brookes was just waiting to set his move up on the OMG rider and did so at Brundle. Disaster yet again for Peter Hickman he crashed out of the race in the early stages. Bridewell was moving up the order, in the hunt for his third victory. Glenn and Haslam were battling it out for second place, Glenn just seemed to have the edge over Haslam. On lap ten Brookes pulled over with a technical issue whilst leading the race! Irwin was now in control of the race, Bridewell was in hot pursuit for the lead, he made a pass on Haslam for second place at Murrys. Glenn made a mistake at Wilson which put him down in fourth place, the Ducati rider regained composure and battled his team-mate for the win, Bridewell just took the victory by an inch! Glenn finished in second place; his first podium finish of the weekend, Haslam held off Vickers for fourth place.
