Moto2: Fermin Aldeguer Takes his First Grand Prix Victory at Silverstone.
By Dawn Hammersley
Spanish rider Fermin Aldeguer celerbrates his first Grand Prix win holding off Aron Canet and Pedro Acosta.
It was perfect weather conditions at Silverstone for the Moto2 race. Pedro Acosta was on pole position, Fermin Aldeguer was in second place with Zonta Van Den Goorbergh lining-up in third place. Britain’s Sam Lowes was in ninth place and Jake Dixon started from 11th place.
Fermin got the holeshot into turn one, Pedro and Aron Canet were in the mix from the off. Disaster struck for home rider Jake Dixon, Jake crashed out on lap one after contact with Darryn Binder!
It was an early end to Britain’s Rory Skinner race as he too crashed out early on after contact with two other riders.
Alonso Lopez crashed out after a promising start, Fermin took control of proceedings at the front, after taking the lead from Aron Canet. Acosta was in third place and just seemed to be unable to match the pace of Fermin and Canet.

Joe Roberts was in a very strong fourth place, Sam Lowes was in seventh place, his team-mate Tony Arbolino was in tenth place; a disappointing race for the ELF Marc VDS rider.
Canet and Acosta were battling for second place at the end of the race as Fermin looked strong at the front and was ready to cross the finish line and take his first victory!
Fermin took the victory, Canet won the battle for second place, Acosta crossed the line in third place, Roberts held on to fourth place with Manuel Gonzalez finishing in fifth place.
