BSB: Mar-Train Yamaha Racing and Jack Kennedy Agree Amicable Split for 2024 Bennetts British Superbike Championship.

By Dawn Hammersley
Jack Kennedy will part ways with Mar-Train Yamaha Racing at the end of the current Bennetts British Superbike season.
Mar-Train Yamaha Racing have announced they will have a new rider line-up for the 2024 British Superbike Championship after agreeing an amicable split with Jack Kennedy.
The Lisburn-based outfit have confirmed that Jack Kennedy is set to leave the team at the end of the year, bringing their highly successful association to an end.
Kennedy carried Mar-Train Yamaha Racing colours to the 2022 British Supersport Championship title and finished runner-up in the 600 class back in 2012.
The Dubliner was retained for the team’s British Superbike Championship debut this year and is currently 10th in the standings with three rounds remaining, after scoring points in 20 of the 24 races so far.
Tim Martin – Team Owner
We are making a few changes for 2024 and revamping the team. I spoke to Jack this week about the direction we are taking, and it has all been very amicable.
We have worked with Jack three years in total, including the past two years which has been hugely successful. Jack won the British Supersport Championship with Mar-Train Yamaha Racing in 2022 and finished runner-up in the class back in 2012.
He has been with the team for this year’s Superbike championship and has done a great job with us. We just feel that it is time for a change in direction ahead of next year.
There has been no fallout. I came to the decision that a change was needed and explained everything to Jack, and I sincerely wish him every success in the future.
Kennedy described his departure as the “end of an era” as he vowed to bow out in style with the team.
Jack Kennedy
I am grateful to the team for giving me the opportunity and for everything we have built this year in the Superbike class.
To see us running at the front in BSB is a great achievement for us as a team. It’s a shame that it has to end as I believe we could have progressed even further in a second season together.
But I’m ready for the next chapter in my own career and I’m twice as motivated to use the experience gained this year to continue in the British Superbike Championship because that’s where I feel I belong.
We have had a lot of success together as a team, including lifting the Supersport title last year. I am looking forward to finishing the last three rounds on a high with Mar-Train and giving my team, sponsors and supporters something to really shout about.
Meanwhile, Martin has also confirmed that crew chief Andy Jamison will be leaving the team at the end of the current British Superbike Championship.
Tim Martin – Team Owner
Andy has been with us on and off since 2012, and again we have enjoyed plenty of success together. We won two British championships with Andy and had two runners-up spots.
We have won at the North West 200 with Andy, and also podiumed at the Ulster Grand Prix. We have had a great relationship with Andy, and I can’t thank him enough for all hit hard work and dedication over the years.
Again, everything has been very amicable with Andy, and I wish him every success in the future.
While plans are in place for 2024, our focus is on finishing the current British Superbike Championship strongly. With three rounds remaining we want to get as many points as we can.
We have learned so much this year and it has been a learning curve for Jack as well on the Superbike. We have enjoyed some brilliant results including a fourth-place finish in the wet at Brands Hatch and a fifth-place in race two at Thruxton.
We will announce our new rider in the coming weeks, hopefully before the final round at Brands Hatch in October.
