R&G British Talent Cup rider Lucas Brown gets new rider coach in the experienced Kyle Smith.
15 year old West Sussex racer, Lucas Brown, has forged a new partnership in the sunnier climate of Spain to assist his development in the 2023 British Talent Cup Moto3 series held in conjunction with the British Superbike Championship and beyond.
The young rider is now his third full season in the only national British Moto3 championship after claiming a solid 5th position in the 2022 standings. A fast, reliable and consistent rider, Brown was consistently at the sharp end of the field and was the only rider to score points in every single race during the season.
Brown remains committed to the Amphibian Racing team supported by SP125 racing and 125 racing legend Steve Patrickson.
2023 has continued where he left off and the Sussex youngster has maintained an upward trajectory, claiming a 3rd place at Donington Park, 2nd place at Snetterton and a double podium 3rd place at the MotoGP round held at Silverstone.
To continue his development both on and off the bike, Brown has attracted the support of none other than Spanish based World Championship rider, Kyle Smith.
Smith brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience on the international stage with experience in World Superbikes, Moto2 Grand Prix and multiple wins / rostrum finishes in World Supersport along with a stunning second place in the 2015 running of the prestigious Suzuka 8hr race. Further to this his palmares include 2019 European Supersport champion and experience in the British Supersport and World Endurance Championships.
The partnership has been brought about via an introduction made by a mutual friend who had reached out to Smith for some guidance whilst visiting family in Spain. Intrigued by what he had heard, Smith arranged to meet with Brown while he was testing his own 600 Supersport bike at the Andalucia in January.
As a result Smith has taken Brown under his guidance to offer advice and direction in the youngsters developing career.
Since this point Brown and Smith have been in regular contact and Lucas has traveled out to train in Spain prior to the Brands Hatch round and he has just returned from another trip last week.
So far the pair have worked on various aspects of riding, racing and training. Regular track sessions on training bikes, motocross, mountain biking and running amongst many other activities designed to further develop Browns’ progress.
Brown is currently supported by Amphibian Scaffolding, Amphibian Apparel UK, WIZ Racing Products, Auritech, Rock Oil, NGK Spark Plugs, SP125 Racing, Facelift Home Improvements Ltd, Coverwell, Crawley Amateur Boxing Club,Muk Junkie Cleaner, MotoGusto Magazine and Helmet City Ltd.
