Kyle Ryde keeps his championship title hopes alive, as Bridewell and Glenn Irwin battle it out for the final podium spot.

It’s the season finale of the 2023 Bennetts British Superbike Championship. The weather at the Kent circuit has been sketchy to say the least! It was a wet qualifying session for the Superbike class, McAMS Yamaha’s Jason O’Halloran put his R1 on pole position, BMW’s Leon Haslam qualified in second place; after having to go through Q1, Hawk Racing’s Charlie Nesbitt lined-up in third place. Championship contenders Tommy Bridewell and Glenn Irwin lined-up in seventh and 17th place respectively.

Lights out and Jason O’Halloran got the holeshot into Paddock hill Bend, Kyle Ryde and Tommy Bridewell were fighting at Druids for fifth place. Jack Kennedy was in fourth place, Glenn Irwin was making progress and was in tenth place.

Bridewell and Ryde were on the move, Tommy was in second place, Kyle was in third place. Tommy and Kyle were trading places for second place. Glenn was the fastest man on track in ninth place.

Kyle took the lead at the exit of Westfield, Kyle was looking so confident. Glenn was in sixth place, the BeerMonster Ducati rider was looking fierce but in control of every pass he made.

Irwin was in fourth place after just five laps, Tommy was just in front in third place. Kyle and Jason had a 1.2 second lead at the front. Glenn’s back wheel was twitching with five laps remaining to the race, he was reeling in his team-mate!

The leading duo were extending their lead at the front, Leon Haslam crashed out at Surtees on lap nine. Glenn was eyeing up his moment to pass Tommy! He made a move at Stirlings but he ran wide. O’Halloran made a move on Kyle on the last lap, Kyle took the position back! What a close finish, it was neck and neck at the finish line but it was Kyle who just got the win.

Tommy hung onto third place, Glenn had to settle for fourth place, Christian Iddon was fifth. Tommy leads the standings by 10.5 points from Glenn, Kyle is 27 points behind, Jason is 47.5 points behind. It’s all to play for tomorrow!!
