Sergio Garcia takes his first ever victory of his Moto2 career after leading the race from lights to flag.

Aron Canet continued his strong run of form after winning his first Moto2 victory at the previous round, the Frantic Racing’s rider started from pole pole position for the Americas Grand Prix. Alongside Canet on the front row of the grid was Fermin Aldeguer and Sergio Garcia.

Sergio Garcia was first off the line and got the holeshot out of turn one, Joe Roberts had a flyer of a start and was in second place, Britain’s Jake Dixon was in fourth place. Canet got pushed back to ninth place, a terrible start for the pole man.

Dennis Foggia was in third place, a crazy first lap for the Moto2 riders! Fermin had a poor start too, the SpeedUp rider was in sixth place. Manuel Gonzalez had a jump start and was given a Long Lap Penalty. Canet was making mistakes trying to pass riders and was down in 11th place.

Garcia was still in control of the race after three laps, Darryn Binder crashed out at turn 15. Fermin Aldeguer was the fastest man on track whilst running in fifth place. Jake crashed out at turn one on lap five, Mario Aji also crashed at turn one.

Alonso and Fermin were battling for fourth place, neither riders were giving in! After a few challenging moves Fermin held on to the fourth place.

With eight laps to go Garcia was leading by 1.2s from Roberts and Foggia. Fermin looked to be having front tyre issues, the Spanish riders chance of fighting for the victory was slipping away.

Joe Roberts ran off track, it looked like the American hit a false neutral, the American Racing Team rider rejoined the race in third place. Fermin was now in second place 1.9s behind Garcia, Roberts made a bold move on Fermin to retake the second place position.

Sergio Garcia crossed the line to take the victory, Roberts held on to second place, Fermin was third, Lopez finished in fourth place with Ramirez finishing in fifth place.
