
MotoGP: Marc Marquez Takes Maiden Tissot Sprint Victory at Aragon

Marc Marquez wins his first Sprint race in MotoGP and his first victory in 1042 days
Marc Marquez started from pole position for the Tissot Sprint, topping every session in the weekend and taking pole by over 0.8 seconds. Pedro Acosta who has reverted back to the settings from the start of the year started in second place with Francesco Bagnaia in third. Jorge Martin who crashed in Q2 started from fourth.
The lights went out and it was Marquez who took the holeshot into turn one, Pecco Bagnaia spun up on the line and dropped down to sixth. Aleix Espargaro went down at turn one. Johann Zarco who started tenth crashed out in the second sector.
Bagnaia had got up to fourth place, Martin and Acosta were just holding on to Marquez who was trying to check out. Franky Morbidelli crashed at the reverse corkscrew.
Bagnaia made a mistake at turn five and dropped down to sixth with Brad Binder applying pressure to the world champion.
Bagnaia made a mistake into the chicane and Binder went through and he was then under attacked from Fabio Quartararo.
Enea Bastianini was making his way forwards passing Raul Fernandez at turn 13 for ninth but the Italian ran wide at the chicane and the TrackHouse Aprilia rider took the place back.
Quartararo attacked Pecco into turn 12 and ran both riders off track and Bastianini took the seventh from the pair of them.
Marc Marquez crossed the line to win his first sprint race ahead of Jorge Martin who retook the championship lead from Bagnaia who crossed the line in ninth. Pedro Acosta returned to the Sprint podium in third.
