Moto2: Celestino Vietti Snatches the Moto2 Victory at the Finish Line From Aron Canet

Celestino Vietti wins a three-way scrap for the Moto2 victory with Aron Canet and Tony Arbolino
For the Moto2 Gran Premio Dell’Emilia-Romagna Aron Canet was on pole position, American Joe Roberts qualified in second place with home rider Tony Arbolino rounding out the front row of the grid.
Lights out as Tony Arbolino lead the Moto2 field into turn one, Ai Ogura was up to fourth place from his starting position of seventh. Celestino Vietti was in second place, Canet was in third place.
Arbolino was stretching out his lead at the front, Roberts was running in sixth place, Britain’s Jake Dixon was in seventh place. Zonta Van Den Goorbergh crashed out on lap two.
After four laps the leading trio edged away from Ogura in fourth place. Deniz Oncu crashed out at sector three as did Jaume Masia at turn four.
Disaster on lap six as Sergio Garcia and Jake Dixon crashed out at turn one and two!
As the Moto2 riders approached the half-way point of the race, the leading three riders had almost a two second gap to Ogura. Abolino, Vietti and Canet were close to one another as the laps were coming down.
With seven to go Vietti was lining up a move on Tony to lead the race, third placed Canet was the fastest man on track, you couldn’t count the Spaniard out of the victory challenge.
Vietti made a mistake at turn two which let Canet through, with five laps to go the leaders looked to be having tyre issues. Ogura was over three seconds away from the leaders in fourth place.
Arbolino made a mistake at turn 13, he lost the lead, it was now a scrap between Canet and Vietti for the lead! Canet took the lead as Arbolino took second place as the Italian Vietti looked to be struggling in third place.
The Marc VDS rider retook the lead, it was close between the pair! Tony made a massive mistake at turn 14, Canet and Vietti passed the Italian, it was a final scrap to the finish line, Vietti just pipped Canet to take the victory, Canet, well what can you say another second place finish for the Spaniard, Arbolino had to settle for third place, Ai Ogura finished in fourth place with Fermin Aldeguer finishing in fifth place.
