
MotoGP: Marc Marquez Dominates The Opening Tissot Sprint of 2025

Lights to flag finish for Marc Marquez who wins ahead of Alex Marquez and Pecco Bagnaia
For the first time ever the Marquez brothers headed the grid in first and second position with Marc in-front of Alex with Francesco Bagnaia in third place after going through Q1. Jack Miller was the top Japanese manufacturer rider in fourth ahead of rookie and reigning Moto 2 World Champion Ai Ogura in fifth with Franky Morbidelli in sixth. Jorge Martin was out for the opening two rounds of the championship due to injury.
The lights went out for the first time in 2025 and it was Marc who took the holeshot ahead of his brother then Pecco Bagnaia and Ogura with Morbidelli in fifth and Miller sixth. Morbidelli tried to pass Ogura at turn four but ran wide and Miller moved passed the Italian.
On lap four Pedro Acosta made a brave move on his team-mate Brad Binder at turn four to take eighth place.
Marc lead Alex by 0.7 seconds with Pecco two seconds behind Marc. Bagnaia was running the hard front while the Marquez brothers were running the soft front.
Miller was the first rider to go down in the Tissot Sprint, the Austarlian lost the front of his Pramac Yamaha at turn eight from sixth on lap seven.
The following lap at the same corner Fabio Quartararo had a moment into turn eight and dropped a place to Acosta, allowing the Spaniard to move into sixth.
Fabio Di Giannantonio had been battling with the Honda’s of Johann Zarco and Joan Mir for the final points paying position in ninth but retired from the race with a mechanical issue with three laps to go.
Marc Marquez had controlled the race from the start of the race and crossed the line to win the opening Tissot Sprint of the season and to lead the championship standings for the first time since the Valencian Grand Prix in 2019. Alex Marquez finished in second place, his best start to a MotoGP championship with Pecco Bagnaia rounding out the podium in third. Rookie Ai Ogura took a very impressive fourth place keeping Pecco honest throughout the 13 lap race with Morbidelli rounding out the top five. Pedro Acosta was sixth in-front of Fabio Quartararo, Brad Binder and Joan Mir who takes the final points paying position.
