
MotoGP: Marc Marquez Ties Angel Nieto’s Record of 90 Grand Prix Victories at Termas De Rio Hondo

Marc Marquez continues his winning streak at the Argentine Grand Prix as Franky Morbidelli returns to the podium for the first time in four years
Marc Marquez had won all three races and started from pole for the Argentine Grand Prix, Alex Marquez started second with Johann Zarco rounded out the front row in third. Francesco Bagnaia was fourth with Pedro Acosta in fifth and Fabio Di Giannantonio in sixth.
The lights went out and it was Marc ahead of Alex from Pecco Bagnaia, Marco Bezzecchi hit the back of Fabio Quartararo and went down at turn one. Bagnaia and Zarco traded places in the third sector with the Italian coming out on top.
On lap two at turn two Franky Morbidelli made an aggressive move on his teammate Di Giannantonio for fifth place and Di Giannantonio dropped to seventh behind Brad Binder. Enea Bastianini crashed out at turn nine.
Morbidelli then made an aggressive move on Zarco at turn five to take fourth place behind Bagnaia. There was a gap between the Marquez brothers and Bagnaia.
Alex Marquez overtook his brother at turn one when Marc ran wide on lap four. Morbidelli then sat up Pecco at turn seven to move into third.
Ai Ogura was progressing his way through the field passing Acosta and Joan Mir to move into the top eight on lap six.
On lap 15 there was a group battle for sixth between Binder, Di Giannantonio, Ogura and Acosta. Ogura ran wide at turn one and Acosta took eight. The Japanese rider retaliated into turn five but ran wide and Acosta retook the position. Marc Marquez had a moment at turn 11 but didn’t lose too much time to Alex Marquez.
On lap 17 Di Giannantonio passed Binder into turn one to move into sixth. Marc Marquez was on the back of Alex looking to make a pass. On lap 18 Marc sent it at turn five but ran extremely wide and lost half a second in the process.
On lap 21 Marc Marquez overtook Alex Marquez into turn five and made the move stick and immediately pulled a one second gap within two laps.
On the last lap Di Giannantonio pulled a late move on Zarco into turn 11 to take fifth position and five Duacti’s inside the top five.
Marc Marquez crossed the line to take his fourth victory of the season and fourth at the Termas De Rio Hondo circuit, he also matched Angel Nieto’s tally of 90 Grand Prix victories. Alex Marquez finished in second for a fourth consecutive time and Morbidelli took his first Grand Prix podium since the 2021 Spanish Grand Prix. Pecco Bagnaia finished in fourth with Di Giannantonio in fifth and Zarco in sixth.

Marc Marquez leads the championship on a maximum of 74 points, 16 points ahead of his brother Alex and 31 points ahead of Bagnaia as they head into Austin Texas which historically is another strong circuit for Marc.
