
MotoGP: Marc Marquez Takes a High Five in Tissot Sprint Victories with a Dominant Sprint Win at Jerez

Marc Marquez wins his eighth race of the season ahead of his brother Alex Marquez and Pecco Bagnaia
Fabio Quartararo started from pole position for the first time since the 2022 Indonesian Grand Prix and for the first time in a Tissot Sprint. Marc Marquez started from second on the grid with his teammate Francesco Bagnaia rounding out the the front row in third. Alex Marquez started from his first second row start of the season in fourth with Franky Morbidelli in fifth and Maverick Vinales continuing his form from Qatar starting in sixth place on the grid.
The lights went out and Quatararo lead out of turn one ahead of Marc and Alex Marquez with Pecco Bagnaia in fourth. Fermin Aldeguer overtook Morbidelli at turn eight but lost the place and then nearly lost the rear at turn 11 but stayed on.
On lap two Marc Marquez pulled alongside Quartararo down into turn six, Quartararo ran a bit wide and lost the front.
Alex Marquez had inherited second place and set the fastest lap of the race and was 0.5 seconds behind Marc Marquez.
Marc Marquez responded setting a fastest lap of his own, Pecco was 0.8 behind Alex Marquez but had closed the gap to 0.5 as Marc’s lead was one second.
On lap five Jack Miller also crashed out at turn six like his fellow Yamaha rider Quartararo did.
On lap six Johann Zarco who was the only rider on the medium rear tyre who wanted to collect data for the Grand Prix lost the front at turn two.
Marc Marquez had controlled the race from the moment he took the lead on lap two in-front of his home fans he took his fifth Tissot Sprint victory out of five. Alex Marquez took his eighth second place of the season with Bagnaia in third.
Morbidelli was fourth with Aldeguer in fifth and Fabio Di Giannantonio making it a Ducati top six lock out. Vinales was the top non-Ducati in seventh, Marco Bezzecchi in eighth and Joan Mir took the final points paying position in ninth.
