
Moto3: Jose Antonio Rueda Takes the Moto3 Estrella Galicia 0,0 Grand Prix of Spain Victory

Red Bull KTM Ajo’s Rueda delivers a masterclass victory in front of his home fans
For the Moto3 championship the Spanish circuit of Jerez is the host for round five of the championship. Jose Antonio Rueda was on pole position, Joel Kelso lined-up in second place, with David Munoz rounding out the front row of the grid, until the Liqui Moly Dynavolt rider was handed a penalty due to impeding others riders during qualifying, the Spaniard had to start from the back of the grid. Angel Piqueras was promoted to third place.
Lights out as Rueda lead the field of Moto3 riders into turn one. Joel was pushed back to sixth place, Alvaro Carpe was in second place. Three riders crashed out, Munoz, David Almansa and Ruche Moodley were all out of the race.
Cormac Buchanan went down at turn ten. Britain’s Scott Ogden was making progress running in 13th place.
Rueda was leading the way from Piqueras, the leaders were stretching out their lead from the rest of the field. Carpe and Kelso were hunting down the leaders in third and fourth place. The leading group consisted of eight riders.
With 14 laps to go Australian Kelso was the fastest rider on circuit whilst running in third place. A lap later Joel made a move for second place and made it stick, the LEVELUP MTA rider was looking sharp as he was catching the leader Rueda.
At the half-way stage of the race the leading trio of Rueda, Kelso and Piqueras had a two second lead at the front. Ryusei Yamanaka was leading the second group in fourth place.
Nicola Carraro crashed out on lap 11. CIP Green Powers Ogden was just outside the top ten in 12th place, fellow Brit Eddie O’Shea was in 16th place.
Rueda was breaking away from Kelso and Piqueras, Kelso looked to be holding Piqueras up, the MT Helmet’s rider made the move for second place, Kelso reclaimed the second place position a few corners later.
Rueda crossed the finish line with over a three second gap to second placed rider Piqueras, Kelso was third, Adrian Fernandez was fourth with Yamanaka finishing in fifth place.
