
MotoGP: Alex Marquez Takes Debut Grand Prix Victory at the Spanish Grand Prix

Alex Marquez is victorious at his home Grand Prix as Marc Marquez crashes early on
Fabio Quartararo stared the Spanish Grand Prix from pole position ahead of Tissot Sprint winner Marc Marquez with Francesco Bagnaia starting in third. Alex Marquez headed the second row in-front of Franky Morbidelli and Maverick Vinales.
The lights went out at Jerez and Quartararo lead the field into turn one ahead of Bagnaia and Marc Marquez. Alex Marquez out-braked himself into turn six but held fourth place. Marc Marquez passed Pecco Bagnaia at turn eight, but Pecco responded at turn nine, Marquez took it back at turn ten but Pecco got a good exit and the teammates touched and Bagnaia eventually took second.
On lap three Marc Marquez lost the front at turn eight and was down! A huge mistake from the championship leader, he rejoined the race in 22nd ahead of Marco Bezzecchi who had crashed at turn one.
On lap four at the final corner Alex Marquez overtook Bagnaia to move into second place, Quartararo right in-front of them.
On lap six Fermin Aldeguer was in fourth and running strong but he lost the front but rejoined the race.
On lap 11 Alex Marquez made a late lunge to take the lead of the Spanish Grand Prix.
On lap 15 Joan Mir had been passed by Morbidelli and the Italian ran wide at turn six and Mir got sucked in and lost the front and was out of seventh place. The following lap Morbidelli then crashed out.
Marc Marquez who was still circulating on the circuit had managed to get himself back in the points paying positions in 15th.
Alex Marquez took his debut Grand Prix victory at his home GP ahead of Quartararo who took his first podium since the 2023 Indonesian Grand Prix and Bagnaia rounded out the podium in third.
Vinales was fourth ahead of Fabio Di Giannantonio in fifth, Marc Marquez recovered to 12th position.

Alex Marquez leads the championship by one point ahead of Marc Marquez with Bagnaia 20 points behind the championship leader.
