
MotoGP: Marc Marquez Takes Sixth Tissot Sprint Victory of the Season at Le Mans

Marc Marquez continues his 100% Tissot Sprint win streak with Alex Marquez in second and Pecco Bagnaia crashing out for the first time this season
Fabio Quartararo started from pole position in-front of his home crowd after shattering the lap record, Marc Marquez started from second on the grid with his brother and championship leader Alex Marquez in third. Fermin Aldeguer was the top rookie in fourth with Maverick Vinales the best of the KTM’s in fifth and Francesco Bagnaia in sixth.
The lights went out and Quartararo lead out of the chicane with a good margin over Marc and Alex Marquez and Bagnaia had got up to fourth place. Franky Morbidelli couldn’t get his holeshot device activated and was 19th at the end of the first lap from the third row of the grid.
Pecco Bagnaia lost the front at turn three and was out of the race, the first DNF for the three World Champion this season.
Pedro Acosta had a great start to the Tissot Sprint, climbing up to fifth place from 12th on the grid and fellow Murcian Aldeguer was the fastest rider on track. Brad Binder crashed out at turn nine on lap three.
Marc Marquez attacked Quartararo into turn three on lap six but Quartararo got the exit and held onto the lead. Marc then block passed Quartararo at turn eight and moved into the lead of the race.
On lap eight Alex Marquez used slipstream and Ducati horsepower to pass Quartararo into turn one and move into second place.
Acosta and Vinales were locked in a battle for fifth place with Vinales trying to pass Acosta into turn three but was too tight and The Shark was able to hold onto fifth place.
On lap ten Aldeguer made his move on Quartararo eyeing up a maiden Tissot Sprint podium, the pair were side-by-side from the exit of turn four to turn six with the two making contact and Quartararo held off the rookie, but Aldeguer didn’t give up and forced the Frenchman to sit up at turn seven and Aldeguer was into third place.
Marc Marquez crossed the line to take his sixth sprint victory in succession, Alex Marquez took his sixth second place in succession and Aldeguer rounded out the podium for the first time this season. Quartararo took fourth place and Vinales was fifth after Acosta lost the front at the penultimate corner of the race.

Marc Marquez has retaken the championship lead from Alex Marquez by two points and is 31 points ahead of Bagnaia in third.
