Rueda wins the Moto3 Grand Prix after a three-way last lap battle.
The Michelin Grand Prix of France is the host of round six of the Moto3 Championship. Rookie Max Quiles got his maiden Moto3 pole position, joining Max on the front row of the grid was rookie Guido Pini and Joel Kelso. The race was declared dry as there had been some showers at the Le Mans’s circuit earlier in the morning.
Quiles got the holeshot into turn one, all riders were safely through the first few corners. The grip levels looked to be low on the circuit.
Joel Kelso took charge at the front from Quiles, Angel Piqueras was in third place. Ryusei Yamanaka crashed out on lap two.
David Munoz was in second place after four laps, the leading group of riders were still pretty much bunched up. Kelso looked comfortable leading the race.
Rookie Pini took lead on lap seven, Kelso wasn’t excepting second place as the Aussie retook first place. Britain’s Eddie O’Shea crashed out at turn eight. Fellow brit Scott Ogden was running in 14th place.
At the half way stage of the race the leading group consisted of 11 riders as Kelso was the fastest man on track. The heat of the race was heating up now as all riders looked comfortable on track, until Piqueras crashed out at turn 10.
Pini crashed out at turn eight on lap 14. Kelso and Munoz were setting fast laps at the front as they edged away from third placed Jose Rueda. The KTM Ajo rider responded and caught the leaders up, there was now a three-way scrap for the victory with five laps to go.
The touch paper was lit on the final lap, Munoz and Rueda were dicing for second place, Munoz held onto second place, Kelso was riding defensive, Munoz and Joel ran off track slightly after Munoz made a move for furst place, which enabled Rueda to cross the finish line and to take the victory, Munoz finished in second place, Kelso crossed the line in third place, Alvaro Carpe was fourth with David Almansa finishing in fifth place.

David Munoz was demoted to third place after a move he made on Joel Kelso on the last lap.
