
MotoGP: Marc Marquez Takes Seventh MotoGP Victory at the Grand Prix of Aragon

Marc Marquez wins in Aragon ahead of his brother Alex Marquez and Pecco Bagnaia
It was very hot at the Motorland Aragon circuit for Round Eight of the MotoGP World Championship, Marc Marquez started from pole position after his Tissot Sprint victory, his brother Alex Marquez started in second with Franky Morbidelli in third. Francesco Bagnaia looked to rectify his poor sprint result starting from fourth with both Red Bull KTM’s in Pedro Acosta and Brad Binder in fifth and sixth and sprint podium finisher Fermin Aldeguer started from seventh.
The lights went out and Marc and Alex lead into turn one with Pecco Bagnaia in third, Morbidelli dropped down to seventh.
At turn one on the second lap Acosta tried to out-brake Bagnaia but ran wide but stayed in fourth place. Acosta then tried at turn 12 and made it stick, Pecco then retook the place at the final corner.
On lap four Morbidelli block passed Binder to move into fifth position, Acosta was still hounding the back of Pecco who was 0.6 seconds behind Alex Marquez. Morbidelli ran wide at turn five and dropped back behind Binder.
Johann Zarco crashed out at turn 12, a disappointing end to the weekend for the Frenchman.
Marc Marquez had pulled 1.5 second gap over Alex Marquez who was being put under pressure by Bagnaia who also still had both Factory KTM’s for company.
On lap 11 Marc Marquez set a new race lap record of a 1:46.879. Binder lost the front at turn three on lap 12 and was out of fifth place.
Fabio Quartararo crashed out of the race at turn one on lap 13, a weekend to forget for the former world champion.
Morbidelli and Aldeguer started to battle throughout the third and fourth sectors with Morbidelli holding off the rookie to stay in fifth place.
Marco Bezzecchi started from the back of the grid after a crash in qualifying and with five laps to go he passed Fabio Di Giannantonio at turn 15 to move into ninth place.
Maverick Vinales lost the front at turn 12 with four laps to go which promoted Bezzecchi into eighth place.
Morbidelli and Aldeguer battled again with Aldeguer passing Morbidelli into turn 12 but Morbidelli responded at turn 15 and the pair made contact on the exit with Morbidelli staying ahead.
Marc Marquez crossed the line to win at Aragon for the seventh time in his career, Alex Marquez took second with Pecco Bagnaia taking his first podium since Jerez. Pedro Acosta was the top none Ducati in fourth with Morbidelli rounding out the top five with Aldeguer finishing in sixth.


Marc Marquez extends his championship lead over Alex Marquez to 32 points and 93 points over Pecco Bagnaia as they head to Mugello for the Italian Grand Prix in two weeks time.
