
Moto3: David Munoz Wins the LIQUI MOLY Grand Prix of Germany

Munoz takes his second Moto3 victory in front of his team’s home crowd
Sachenring was the host of the Moto3 German Grand Prix. Britain’s Scott Ogden got his maiden Moto3 pole position, joining Scott on the front row of the grid was David Almansa and Liqui Moly Dynavolit Intact GP’s Guido Pini. The weather conditions were much better than the previous day in Saxony.
Scott Ogden lead the Moto3 field into turn one, contact for a few riders around turn one, Scott got a good start. David Munoz was in second place, Britain’s Eddie O’Shea was up to eighth place, great showing from the young Brit.
Munoz took charge of the race on lap two, with Ogden and Cormac Buchanan for company. The fastest rider on track was Max Quiles after three laps. Ogden wasn’t letting Munoz get away, Quiles was in third place.
Eddie O’Shea crashed out at turn one, disappointing for the MLav rider! Alvaro Carpe was handed a Long Lap Penalty due to causing a collision at turn one.
The top five riders made a break from the rest of the field, Quiles was leading from Munoz, Quiles looked to be backing the field up as the leading group now consisted of 15 riders covered by 1.5 seconds.
Adrian Fernandez crashed out at turn three on lap nine. Ryusei Yamanaka was leading the race after 11 laps, Scott was pushed down the order to tenth place, Jose Antonio Rueda joined the party running in third place.
Joel Kelso was making progress running in sixth place, Yamanaka was controlling the pace at the front from Munoz. David Almansa crashed out at turn 13, a tough day for Leopard Racing! 12 riders were still in the hunt for the Moto3 victory by lap 17.
Ogden crashed out at turn one with just four laps to go! Just as Yamanaka ran wide off the track, the Japanese rider was now down in 16th place. Rueda was leading from Munoz, Kelso was in fifth place, the Australian rider was looking sharp.
Final lap time, things were getting spicy! Taiyo Furusato crashed out of third place with just two corners to go.
Munoz crossed the line to take the victory, Quiles was second, Rueda was third, Angel Piqueras was fourth with Carpe finishing in fifth place.
