Marc Marquez wins the Czech Grand Prix with Pedro Acosta taking his first podium of the season
It was the first Czech Grand Prix since 2020, the weather was hot and all riders were loving the new track surface. Francesco Bagnaia started on pole position for the first time in 2025, Pecco was set to finish second in the Tissot Sprint before a false tyre pressure warning caused him to drop behind other riders and finished in seventh and looked to rectify that result. Marc Marquez started alongside Bagnaia and could become the first Ducati rider to win five Grand Prix’s in a row, Fabio Quartararo rounded out the front row. Sprint podium finishers Pedro Acosta and Enea Bastianini started in seventh and 11th, meanwhile Alex Marquez started from eighth and the returning Jorge Martin was 12th.
The lights went out and Bagnaia got the holeshot into turn one, Marc Marquez attacked into turn three but Pecco retook the lead on the exit of turn four and then Marco Bezzecchi from fourth on the grid overtook Marquez at turn five.
Pecco ran wide at turn 13 and that allowed Bezzecchi to take the lead into turn one and then Marquez overtook Pecco into turn three. Alex Marquez who was running in seventh tried to pass Joan Mir for sixth at turn 12 but they made contact and they both went down.
Acosta passed Bagnaia into turn three to move into the podium places. Bastianini was starting to charge up the field as he passed Raul Fernandez for sixth at the Schwantz curve. The Beast then passed Quartararo at turn four on the following lap to move into the top five, Fernandez also passed Quartararo.
On lap six Bastianini then passed Pecco at turn nine and was 1.2 seconds behind Acosta who was keeping in touch with Marquez and Bezzecchi.
On lap seven Bastianini lost the front at turn three and was out of the race, Bagnaia inherited fourth place back.
Marquez took the lead of the race on lap eight at turn three, Bezzecchi tried to respond immediately but Marquez blocked his path.
Marquez crossed the line to win the Czech Grand Prix ahead of Bezzecchi in second and Acosta held off a late charging Bagnaia in third. Raul Fernandez took his best finish of the season and his MotoGP career in fifth, Quartararo was sixth ahead of Martin in seventh on his comeback ahead of Fermin Aldeguer, Brad Binder and Jack Miller who rounded out the top ten.
Marc Marquez leads the championship on 381 points, 120 ahead of Alex Marquez and 168 ahead of Bagnaia. Bezzecchi has leapfrogged both VR46 Ducati’s to move into fourth in the standings.
