
Moto3: Max Quiles Takes His Third Victory of the 2025 Season in Portimão

Quiles wins a very feisty Moto3 race, as Casey O’Gorman finishes inside the top six
It’s the penultimate round of the Moto3 championship, the host for round 21 was the Autodromo International Do Algarve. Levelup-MTA’s Joel Kelso was on pole position, Britain’s Scott Ogden lined up in second place, with Angel Piqueras rounding out the front row of the grid.
Lights out for the penultimate round,Kelso was first into turn one, Ogden just lost a few places. Casey O’Gorman got a great start running in sixth place.
Max Quiles was in second place chasing the leader Kelso, Angel Piqueras was running in third place. Ogden needed to regroup as he was in seventh place after two laps. O’Gorman was in a strong fifth place, stunning ride from the young Irish rider.
Joel Esteban was in third place dicing with Quiles, they almost touched! Adrian Fernandez made his way into second place after four laps. Kelso was still controlling the race looking smooth at the front of the field.
David Almansa crashed out at turn 13. Some wild maneuvers were taking place amongst the Moto3 riders. Pole man Kelso was still leading after seven laps, all the battling was going on behind the Australian rider. Ogden looked settled running in the leading group in ninth place.
At the halfway point of the race Kelso had almost a second lead from Quiles. On lap ten the gap came down, Kelso was under pressure and lost two places, Quiles was now in charge of the race.
Taiyo Furusato took control after 13 laps, it looked as though none of the riders wanted to lead the race, things were heating up, O’Gorman had a moment losing two positions. Late moves were being made through the field.
Quiles fought his way to lead the race, Quido Pini crashed out at sector four. Quiles got his head down for a few laps to put some time between himself and second placed Furusato. Third placed honors were up for grabs between six riders!
Piqueras took second place with just two laps to go, O’Gorman was in sixth place hunting that first Moto3 podium.
Quiles crossed the line to take his third victory of the season, Piqueras was second, Furusato was third, Estaban was fourth with Carpe finishing in fifth, O’Gorman was sixth, Ogden finished in eighth place.

The Moto3 championship head to Valencia next weekend for the season finale.
