2025 was a year of mixed fortunes for the Italian squad, on one side Marco Bezzecchi returned to form after a disappointing 2024 season while their number one rider then reigning champion Jorge Martin struggled with injuries that he was plagued with throughout the season.
Marco Bezzecchi was a title contender in 2023, but in 2024 struggled to get to grips with the GP24 Ducati and the switch to Aprilia saw Bez return to the top three in the championship. Despite a steady start to the season, the Italian took his first victory of the season at Silverstone and from then on he was a permanent fixture in the podium battle for the rest of the season. He won the final two races of the season in dominant fashion and could be the biggest threat to Ducati this season.
Jorge Martin’s 2025 season was a disaster from start to finish, he picked up a wrist injury in the Sepang test and was out of action until round four in Qatar where he crashed in the race and suffered internal injuries and was out until the Czech Grand Prix eight rounds later. He achieved a best finish of fourth place at the Hungarian Grand Prix, but then suffered injury once more at the start of the Japanese Tissot Sprint when he hit the back of his teammate Bezzecchi at the first corner and displaced his collarbone;
the Spaniard returned for the final round of the season.

The Aprilia looked to be the fastest bike at the end of the season with the Italian machinery picking up three Grand Prix wins, two sprint wins and four podiums with Bezzecchi and TrackHouse Racing’s Raul Fernandez. With the limited amount of changes that can be made and the new regualtions for 2027 looming, the start of the season will prove what steps Aprilia have made during the winter in a bid for the factory’s first Grand Prix world championship.
