
Moto3: Max Quiles Wins the Estrella Galicia 0,0 Grand Prix of Spain

Quiles controlled most of the Moto3 race, with a battle forming behind the Aspar Team’s rider for a podium finish
CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team’s Max Quiles was on pole position at the Circuito De Jerez, Joining Quiles on the front row of the grid was Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP’s David Munoz and Red Bull KTM Ajo’s Alvaro Carpe.
Lights out for round four of the championship as David Munoz got the holeshot into turn one, Matteo Bertelle crashed out. The Australian rider Joel Kelso made a sharp start running in sixth place.
Max Quiles got into first place towards the end of lap one, Joel Esteban was in second place with Munoz in third place. Britain’s Scott Ogden was in the second group of riders, running in P13.
After three laps Quiles was controlling the Moto3 race, Munoz managed to go with Quiles leaving a slight gap to the rest of the field.
Adrian Fernandez was pushing to catch the leading duo in third place. Alvaro Carpe and Valentin Perrone were dicing for fourth place. Fernandez persistence paid off as he made his move on Munoz for second place.
By lap eight Quiles lost the first place position to Fernandez, Guido Pini crashed out at turn nine. Aspar Team’s Marco Morelli was motoring on in fourth place, pushing on to try and catch the leading trio. Quiles was coming under pressure from Munoz as Adrian was edging away from the pair.
The gap was down to 1.6 seconds for Morelli to Munoz with six laps remaining in the race. Fernandez was still controlling the race at the front of the field.
Quiles passed Fernandez with three laps to go, Munoz attacked Fernandez straight away for second place. Quiles pulled the pin taking Munoz with him, Morelli was catching the trio.
Two laps to go Quiles had over a second lead, Morelli caught Munoz and Fernandez, the Argentinian rider made a move to get into second place and made it stick, until things heated up between the trio! There was a push to the finish line on the final lap.
Quiles took the victory, Fernandez was second, Munoz was third, Morelli unfortunate not be on the podium, crossing the line in fourth place, Carpe was fifth.

Quiles leads the Moto3 championship standings on 90 points from Carpe.
