Uriarte held off championship leader Maximo Quiles to take the win

Sachsenring was the host for round eleven of the Moto3 championship. Brian Uriarte was on pole position, CFMoto Gaviota Aspar’s Marco Morelli lined up in second place, with Hakim Danish rounding out the front row of the grid.

Lights out at the German circuit, Uriarte lead the Moto3 field into turn one. A clean few corners for all the riders, a few battles were happening behind Uriarte, which let the Spanish rider get away from second placed Morelli.

A Turn One crash for Valentin Perrone and Marcus Uriarte, which caused Joel Kelso and Nicola Carraro to run off track.

After four laps Max Quiles made his way to second place and was the fastest rider on track. Turn Three disaster for Casey O’Gorman as the young Irish rider crashed.

The top five riders broke away from the rest of the field after five laps. Britain’s Scott Ogden crashed but managed to rejoin the race.

A massive crash for Adrian Cruces at turn seven, Joel Estaban had no where to go and also crashed out.

The leading duo of Uriarte and Quiles had a 0.7s gap to Rico Salmela at the half way point of the race. Carpe ran off track whilst running in third place, which put the Spanish KTM rider back to 11th place.

On lap 15 Quiles took the lead, Uriarte snatched it back a few corners later. Morelli, Salmela and Matteo Bertelle were dicing for the final podium position.

Quiles took the lead with three laps to go, Uriarte made a move on the last lap to regain the lead. Uriarte kept his cool to take the victory, Quiles was a close second, Bertelle was third beating Morelli by 0.007 seconds! Salmela finished in fifth place.
