Marc Marquez victorious at Misano as Marco Bezzecchi crashes out of the lead on lap one

It was hot, sunny skies over the Adriatic coast at Misano. Marco Bezzecchi started his home Grand Prix from pole position with Tissot Sprint winner Marc Marquez in second and Fermin Aldeguer rounding out the front row, the number 54 along with his teammate Alex Marquez were running a San Carlo Gresini Racing replica livery for the San Marino Grand Prix. Fabio Di Giannantonio started in fourth with Jorge Martin and Luca Marini rounding out the second row, Pedro Acosta was seventh and Alex Marquez was ninth.

The lights went out and Bezzecchi took the holeshot into turn one and blocked every passing place in the first sector to stop Marquez going through, Martin was third.

Bezzecchi lost the front at turn 13 and was out of the race and potentially the championship. Marquez inherited the lead with Martin in second and Acosta was leading the battle for third against the Gresini Racing Ducatis.

Jack Miller went down at turn eight on lap two then Diogo Moreira went down at turn four on lap three. Marquez was pushing the pace at the front and Martin was trying to follow him.

Alex Marquez made a move on Acosta into turn eight, Acosta didn’t take it lying down at immediately responded at turn ten. Alex then got third back at turn 14.

Alex Marquez was pushing the pace setting a 1:30.9 and was closing in on the front two.

Francesco Bagnaia’s nightmare of a weekend continued as he crashed out at turn two on lap six.

Martin took the lead of the race at turn four, executing a block pass on Marquez on lap seven and Alex Marquez was still closing in.

Martin was starting to gap Marc Marquez and his brother Alex Marquez was on the back of him. But the following lap Marc matched the pace of Martin.

On lap 12 Marc Marquez took the lead at turn six and was trying to bolt away but Martin was pushing to keep Alex Marquez behind.

On lap 14 Alex Marquez pulled off the same move on Martin as his brother did, Martin was then under pressure from Acosta who had just set his personal best of the race.

Acosta made his move for the podium coming from a bit far back but made the apex at turn eight and was in the podium spots.

Aldeguer was now closing in on Martin, if Aldeguer overtook the 2024 world champion then Marc Marquez would take the championship lead by zero points.

Aldeguer went through on Martin at turn six and had six laps to try and catch Acosta for his first podium of the season.

Alex had closed the gap to 0.7 seconds to Marc in-front after it had been pulled out to 1.3 at one point.

Acosta set his personal best lap of the race as Aldeguer set the fastest lap of the race with just five laps to go.

Marc Marquez crossed the line to win the San Marino Grand Prix, Alex Marquez was second with Acosta rounding out the podium. Aldeguer was fourth with Martin rounding out the top five, Raul Fernandez was sixth with Di Giannantonio being the top Italian in seventh ahead of Enea Bastianini and Luca Marini with Fabio Quartararo rounding out the top ten.

Marc Marquez leads the championship on 274 points with Martin level, Bezzecchi was 33 points behind.
