Lecuona takes his second win of the 2026 season, with a lights to flag victory

Cremona in Italy is the host of Round Ten of the WorldSBK championship, Superpole got underway with a few crashes, Britain’s Jake Dixon crashed out early on in the session. Iker Lecuona was leading the way early on in the session, Lecuona’s team-mate Nicolo Bulega had two crashes on day one of the round, not what we are used to seeing from the dominate championship leader.

Lecuona was on pole position for the first time of the 2026 season, with a lap time of 1:27.253. Bulega qualified in second place, the first time in 2026 where he would not start from pole position. Alberto Surra rounded out the front row of the grid in third place.

Lights out at the Italian circuit, Lecuona lead the field into turn one, Yari Montella was in second place, Bulega was in third place.

Disaster for Montella as he crashed out at the last corner of the Cremona circuit, his team-mate Alvaro Bautista was down in 13th place.

Surra was in third place, Sam Lowes was in fourth place, brother Alex Lowes was in sixth place. Dixon was just outside the top ten.

With 19 laps to go Bulega was the fastest man on track, chasing down his team-mate. Yamaha’s Remy Gardner was running in 10th place, there were seven riders behind him all seeking to claim the 10th place position!

Montella rejoined the race but then crashed out at turn 10, Surra also crashed out at turn seven, losing his podium position, Sam was now in third place. Tommy Bridewell had to retire was from the race with a mechanical issue.

Dixon was now in ninth place chasing Axel Basanni for eighth place. Miguel Oliviera crashed out at turn two, whilst running in tenth place. Lecuona was three seconds ahead of Bulega with 12 laps to go. Xavi Vierge crashed out at turn five.

Lecuona crossed the finish line with a six second gap to second placed Bulega, Sam took the final podium place, Lorenzo Baldassarri was fourth with Garrett Gerloff finishing in fifth place.
