
AndaluciaGP: Maverick Viñales heads Factory Yamaha 1-2 after FP1

Maverick Viñales and team-mate Valentino Rossi lead the way following the first free practice session of the Andalucian GP.
Viñales, who set his fastest tine a the end of the session, lead team-mate Rossi by +0.142s who set a 1:37.205, less than a tenth slower than his FP3 time from a week ago.
Brad Binder stunned the MotoGP field once again, the South African ended FP1 in third, just +0.307s off Viñales’ top time.
Morbidelli made it three Yamaha’s inside the top five, with second KTM of Pol Espargaro completing the top five.
Miguel Oliveira also put his Red Bull Tech 3 KTM inside the top six, +0.050s behind the man he will replace in 2021, Pol Espargaro.
Jack Miller just missed out on a podium last weekend and ended the first session of the weekend in seventh ahead of Takaaki Nakagami, Aleix Espargaro and Factory Ducat’s Andrea Dovizioso.
Joan Mir is looking to bounce back from a first-lap crash, the Suzuki rider ended the session 11th, +0.676s behind the Yamaha’s.
Iker Lecuona was 12th ahead of first-time MotoGP race winner Fabio Quartararo. Fellow Frenchman, Johann Zarco ended 14th.
Alex Marquez had a slightly more competitive start to the weekend finishing 15th ahead of the Ducati’s headed by Petrucci, Bagnaia and Rabat.
Aprilia’s Bradley Smith completed his ninth competitive session as a 2020 Aprilia rider in 19th whilst an injured Cal Crutchlow and Alex Rins completed the top 21.
Alex Rins stopped running after just eight laps with the possibility of pulling out of the Andalucian GP.
Marc Marquez and HRC have agreed to sit out Friday’s running and instead will return on Saturday following his recent right arm operation.
MotoGP is back on track for FP2 at 14:10.
