
AndaluciaGP: Raul Fernandez leads Tatsuki Suzuki in Jerez

Red Bull KTM Ajo’s Raul Fernandez leads the way in Moto3 ahead of Tatsuki Suzuki and Filip Salac at the end of a fierce day one in Jerez.
Round three of the Moto3 World Championship has started with Raul Fernandez setting the early pace. The Spanish rider tops the combined times with a time of a 1:45.896, +0.216s clear of SIC58 Squadra Corse rider Tatsuki Suzuki.
Filip Salac had a strong opening day. The Czech rider completed the top three ahead of Gabriel Rodrigo and Andrea Migno.
Carlos Tatay made improvements during his second visit to Jerez in 2020. The Reale Avintia Moto3 rider ended +0.396s off Fernandez’s top time.
Jeremy Alcoba ended the day seventh ahead of Tony Arbolino and John McPhee, who will be looking to bounce back following his last lap collision last weekend.
Stefano Nepa completed the top ten with Leopard Racing Honda rider Dennis Foggia in 11th and last week’s podium finisher Ai Ogura in 12th. Ayumu Sasaki finished the day in 13th ahead of Moto3 Championship leader Albert Arenas, who is the last rider through to Q2.
There are a few riders who will be looking to qualify directly into Qualifying two, Niccolo Antonelli ended the day in 17th, just ahead of Darryn Binder, who despite having a tough Friday, will no doubt feature in the leading group come Sunday.
Celestino Vietti finished fifth in last weekend’s Moto3 Grand Prix, but ended the opening day of the Andalucian Grand Prix in 20th, +1.084s off the pace.
Garcia, Magia, Lopez and Fenati are all outside the top 20 with work to do in FP3 on Saturday morning.
