The third and final free practice sessions for Moto3 was nothing short of dramatic, and just as we thought the top 14 was set ahead of qualifying, laps are being cancelled left right and centre for yellow flag infringements following Tatsuki Suzuki’s highside at turn 9 in the closing stages.
One thing that’s certain, Red Bull KTM AJO’s Raul Fernandez will lead the charge into qualifying ahead of Romano Fenati, who gets promoted up to second position after Jaume Masia had his lap cancelled. Ai Ogura completed the top three, making it three manufacturers inside the top three positions.
Championship leader Albert Arenas has been promoted some positions into fourth with Stefano Nepa in fifth position and Kaito Toba in sixth.
John McPhee was promoted up to seventh, from his original 10th place finish when the flag fell, the Scott ended free practice three ahead of Jeremy Alcoba, Tatsuki Suzuki and Ryusei Yamanaka rounds out the top ten, all of which have been promoted positions.
Gabriel Rodrigo finishes outside the top ten, but crucially inside the automatic Q2 positions. The Argentine lies 11th ahead of Yuki Kuni, Niccolo Antonelli and Jason Dupasquier, who finishes 14th and the last of the automatic Q2 entries.
Dennis Foggia found himself promoted to from 19th to 15th, but the Italian will lead the charge in Q1 ahead of SKY VR46 rider Cellestino Vietti, Khairul Idham Pawi and second SKY VR46 rider, Andrea Migno.
Tony Arbolino was another rider who had a lap cancelled. The Italian dropped from inside the top five to outside the Qualifying two positions. While Jaume Masia crossed the line finishing second, but has also had his lap cancelled. Masia will join team-mate Foggia in Q1, finishing FP3 down in 24th position.
The green flag will wave for qualifying at 12:35 local time when the battle for pole begins in the Moto3 championship.
