Moto2: Jorge Martin set to miss San Marino GP following positive COVID test

Red Bull KTM Ajo rider Jorge Martin has become the first rider to test positive for the COVID-19 virus in the MotoGP paddock, MotoGP.com reports.
Rumours picked up on Wednesday evening that Jorge Martin has tested positive for the COVID-19 outbreak, however, despite hours of speculation, we awaited official confirmation. Today, both MotoGP and the Red Bull KTM Ajo team have confirmed that the Moto2 championship contender is one of two people tested positive for the virus, both of which are asymptomatic and in isolation.
Following Marin’s positive test, there has also been one positive result returned for a mechanic from a different team.
Both individuals are self-isolating for 14 days and will miss the San Marino round and potentially next week’s second event at the venue. Neither individual has entered the paddock.
Martin currently lies third in the Moto2 World Championship, eight points behind Luca Marini and tied on points with Enea Bastianini.
We wish them a speedy recovery and hope to see them back in the MotoGP paddock soon.
