Ducati’s Andrea Dovizioso feels that he can be “more competitive” at this weekends Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.

The Italian took part in the four hour morning session, before parking his GP20 up for the afternoon. Dovizioso, who completed 45 laps, finished the day eighth overall, +0.758s off Maverick Viñales’ top time, believes that the work done on Tuesday morning is enough to catapult the championship leader back into podium contention.

Speaking after the test, Dovizioso said: “I am satisfied with this day of testing: this morning, we were able to complete our program, working on the details that interested us most. After a difficult weekend like the past one, it would not have made sense to continue testing even in the afternoon, since we will have another three days to be able to work.”

The rider from Forli was quick to compare today’s test action to his seventh-place performance at the same venue just two days prior,” Compared to the last GP, I feel I can be much more competitive this weekend. Still, we have to keep our feet on the ground: our rivals have also been working to improve and getting a spot on the front rows will be even more important, but in general, I am confident and positive”.

The 04 Ducati also tried out the new radio communications system, although believes work needs to be done ahead of it’s full-time debut. “I also tried the radio communications systems and honestly, I liked it. You can hear everything clearly, however, work needs to be done to the earpiece because the engine noise is too loud, so for this I prefer the regular ear protection. I would also like to see the wires removed, but I don’t know if this is possible!”

Dovizioso will return to the track on Friday morning, to further improve the feeling with his Ducati in free practice one, beginning at 09:55 local time.
