MotoGP: Bagnaia Smashes Lap Record to Top FP3 in Misano

By Short Shift News
Francesco Bagnaia has ended the third free practice session on top after smashing the out-right lap record.
Bagnaia’s 1:31.127 beat Maverick Viñales’ previous lap record, set last weekend.
The Italian, who will be looking for a back-to-back podium finish at his home circuit, fired in the quickest time as the session entered its final ten minutes.
Fellow countryman, Franco Morbidelli, who is still suffering from a stomach bug, cut the gap from half a second to three tenths, but no one could touch Bagnaia on the cooler Misano track.
The third practice session claimed a lot of victims, Miguel Oliveira, Jack Miller, Pol Espargaro and Francesco Bagnaia all took to the gravel as the times continued to tumble.
Maverick Viñales was the next man to edge closer to Bagnaia’s top time, the Spaniard’s time was quicker than his pole position time of last weekend, but was still a tenth off the Italian.
Fabio Quartararo jumped up to second, but Viñales’ last lap threatened Bagnaia’s top time, but missed out by +0.058.
Bagnaia leads the charge into Q2, finishing ahead of Viñales and Quartararo.
Misano Grand Prix winner, Morbidelli was fourth fastest ahead of Joan Mir. Friday pacesetter, Brad Binder was the leading KTM in sixth ahead of Takaaki Nakagami and Valentino Rossi, who looks to have found the extra few tenths he lacked six days ago.
Pol Espargaró and Danilo Petrucci complete the top ten.
Jack Miller leads the charge in Q1, the Aussie took a tumble early on in the session and finished ahead of Aleix Espargaró and Johann Zarco.
Andrea Dovizioso’s worries continues, the rider from Forli is outside of the top ten in 14th.
Qualifying begins this afternoon, who will take pole position in Misano?
