WSBK: Jonas Folger set for second WorldSBK wildcard

By Short Shift News
The 2020 IDM Superbike Champion Jonas Folger will make his second World Superbike wildcard appearance at the season finale of Estoril.
The German has dominated the 2020 IDM season, winning every race this season. The former MotoGP rider made his World Superbike debut at Catalunya as he looks to rebuild his motorcycling career following the diagnosis of Gilbert Syndrome at the end of 2017.
The 27-year-old has enjoyed a successful 2020, winning the German Superbike championship and finishing in the top ten in the Superpole race, with a further two point-scoring finishes that weekend.
Folger will return to action in Estoril as he makes his second wildcard appearance. Although Catalunya was a new circuit for the World Superbike Championship, Estoril will be a much more level playing field with most of the riders taking to the Portuguese circuit for the first time.
The MotoGP podium finisher will once again ride Yamaha machinery as he looks to find a grid spot on the 2021 World Superbike grid.
The paddock are in Magny-Cours for the penultimate round of the season this weekend before heading to Estoril to wrap up the shortened 2020 championship on the 16th – 18th October.
